Family in Jackson Hole {Midland & Odessa, Family Photographer}

Finally got around to taking my own family pictures.  It’s much harder to be in them than behind the lens!  However, we had a vacation to Jackson Hole, WY, it was a must.  I set the camera settings and gave a friend we were staying with instructions on how to focus my camera.  I love the way they turned out!  So pretty with the mountains.

Pageant Princess {Midland & Odessa, TX Photographer}

This little girl was just a doll!  She was all smiles and so happy.  Her mommy brought along her special teddy bear.  Its special because it has her heartbeat recorded from one of her ultrasounds.  To say she loved that bear was an understatement.  Anytime she was starting to get fussy, all we had to do was pull out the bear and she was happy again!

She is also going to be in her first pageant!  Look at that face, she is sure to win most photogenic for sure 🙂

Hi Ho Cowboy! {Midland & Odessa TX Photographer}

I had a wonderful time with this little guy and his mom!  We enjoyed a stroll to the pond where he found a mallard duck looking for a handout, played with some roly poly bugs, than popped a few bubbles from the bubble machine.  All while hanging onto his Daddy’s cowboy hat.  He adored that hat!  (and looked pretty darn cute in it, too!)  Most kids are shy with me at first, not this guy, he was actually asking me to follow him!  Such a little personality 🙂

Purple Flowers and Rainbows {Midland and Odessa, TX – Child Photographer}

I found a gorgeous flower field to use for part of this session. I LOVE that field and the flowers complimented my vision and this little girls outfit perfectly! Who doesn’t love playing in a field of wildflowers?! On the way to our next location, we found a caterpillar. The little girl just had to stop and play with it, providing the perfect picture opportunity and one of my favorite images from the session! After wards it was off to a nearby field where she spotted a rainbow! Wow, the luck! Sometimes nature just hands you beauty and you just have to run with it.

Preeclampsia Foundation and Awareness Month {Midland and Odessa, TX Photographer}

Back in 2012, I had the privileged and honor to be the official photographer of the St Louis Preeclampsia Foundation walk.  My friend and fellow photographer, who had lost her first daughter, Abigail, due to pre-e was one of the people who was running the event that year.   I have learned a lot about pre-e because of her, and how devastating and deadly is can be.   For those of you who are not familiar with this deadly condition, Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms.

Typically, preeclampsia occurs after 20 weeks gestation (in the late 2nd or 3rd trimesters or middle to late pregnancy) and up to six weeks postpartum (after delivery), though in rare cases it can occur earlier than 20 weeks.

Globally, preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death. By conservative estimates, these disorders are responsible for 76,000 maternal and 500,000 infant deaths each year.

Those are STAGGERING statistics!  The Preeclampsia Foundation is the only national 501(c)(3) not-for-profit patient advocacy organization serving these woman and fighting against this condition.  May is National Preeclampsia Awareness month, to raise awareness my friend has set up a Go Fund Me page to accept donations for the Preeclamsia Foundation in honor of her daughter.  If you feel the desire to donate, please do so at HERE.

This same friend tagged me in a Facebook post this morning.  Much to my surprise, the National Preeclampsia Foundation chose MY picture, from 3 years ago, out of all the chapters who have submitted pictures through out the last 3 years, to use as their Mother’s Day post!!!  How awesome is that!  CLICK HERE to see the post!  Don’t forget to show your support by “liking” the Foundation’s Facebook page, too!

Senior Time {Midland and Odessa, TX Photographer}

Despite the wind, we were able to get some awesome pictures of this senior!  It was a challenge, finding pockets of calm  between the gusts, be he hung in there with his momma and I.

He loves to hunt and camp, so it was only fitting to include his rifle in a few of the images.   Thats one of my favs from this session!
